40 Years of Service to Industry

Since our inception in 1971, Armour Valve (ISO 9001) has grown from a small, Quebec-based team to a company of more than 35 highly skilled professionals with offices across Canada.

We supply most Canadian power utilities, as well as leading oil and gas companies and industrial steam plants. Our staff works with customer purchasing, engineering, maintenance, instrument, and process departments.

Commitment to Quality

In 1997, Armour Valve received its ISO 9002 certification. In December 2003, we upgraded to ISO 9001.

ISO 9001 is an international standard that provides an organizational framework for quality, control and improvement. By applying this standard throughout the organization, Armour Valve ensures that processes are in place and being followed to meet or exceed customer product and service requirements, ultimately achieving our customer satisfaction goal.

In order to become ISO-compliant, Armour Valve reviewed and documented all of its existing quality and control processes and quality management procedures, an intensive task that involved the commitment of every individual at all levels of the organization.

"The results of the certification have undoubtedly been worth the effort. Being ISO-compliant has allowed us to better satisfy our customers by providing them with a service backed by a respected quality management system," says Armour Valve owner and president, Ian Braff. "The entire process also reinforced how committed our employees are to maintaining consistent quality standards. I'm very proud of the effort they've put in."

Receiving the certification has also impacted the company's sales department for the better. "Many of our competitors and affiliates are ISO-registered," says Inside Sales Manger, Jennifer Jones. "We were impressed with the effects the standard had on their quality systems and wanted to optimize our services in the same way. Now we are in a better position to remain competitive in our field."

"Documenting the company's processes has proven to be a reliable training tool for both our new and existing employees. We now have a greater understanding of our specific and collective responsibilities within the company," says Operations Manager, Belinda Chow.

Maintaining the company's quality standards is an ongoing effort. Periodic surveillance audits are conducted by an independent registrar to ensure that ISO standards are consistently met from year to year. With several years of ISO compliance and experience under its belt, Armour Valve's commitment to quality is clear.

Commitment to Safety and Environmental Compliance

Armour Valve recognizes that a company's most important resource is its people. We supply products and services to all industry sectors that help protect the health and safety of workers and reduce emissions.

Beginning with the Conval CLAMPSEAL® globe valve, Armour Valve has actively sought to represent valve products that are inherently safe and reliable. It is of great concern to us that no family be adversely affected by the performance of our represented products. Therefore, the majority of our products exceed current Occupational Health & Safety and/or Boiler Branch requirements.

Over the years Armour Valve has added several products to its line that are specifically focused on personnel protection. Recent additions of SUM thermal reusable blankets and Hiltap safety and environmental fittings and couplers strengthen Armour Valve's commitment to personnel health and safety. SUM blankets protect workers from exposed hot metal surfaces as well as contain any accidental leaking of harmful fluids from pipes or vessels. Hiltap fittings and couplers are designed to lock under pressure thus preventing the accidental disengagement of pressurized hoses and pipes. Hiltap’s sealing technology represents a huge leap forward in the prevention of life threatening injuries from liquids or vapours escaping from pipes or hoses.

Our representatives are trained to provide industry with engineered solutions to identified workplace hazards. Our wide experience and depth of knowledge in several industry sectors enables us to draw on the best practices available and transfer solutions from one sector to another. This expertise provides an added value to Armour Valve customers.

In the future, Armour Valve will continue to make personnel health and safety a priority. Working alongside engineers, designers, field personnel and vendors we continue to search for new solutions and products that advance best practices in industry health and safety and emissions reduction.
